How to service a water damaged phone

Your phone drop on water?
try this first before taking it to a technician.

When some people phone drop on water or the phone get wet through rain, the mistake they make  at first by trying to get it dried is very excruciating,

Some tried drying the phone by using a cooking gas, stove, candle light or the sun.without disassembling the phone, during that process, some end up damaging the phone screen, touch calibrator or getting the casing burnt.

NOTICE!!!

The number one thing to do immediately your phone got soak with water, is to remove the battery. And don't ever, I repeat ever put the battery back to the phone until it is serviced,
when you dry your phone without disassembling, the drying will only take effect on the casing but not the printed circuit board (PCB) and this can kill the PCB.

If your phone is still working perfectly after it drops on water, this doesn't mean all is well with the device, the longer the water stays on the PCB the more it will be killing it slowly like a human virus.

A water damage PCB

Here we will teach you the step by step guide to get your device back to its working condition.

warning!!!!

We will not be responsible if you cause more damages to your device, this post is for people with technical experience.

follow this steps if your phone is water damage

STEP 1

  1.  Start by taking out your device battery, sim or memory card if any one is present, you can refer to your device user manual on how to do that,

2.      A phone repair tool kit, we are going to use this to unscrew the device

3.       Now start by losing  the screws one by one,  and take out the back casing cover

4. Now take out the back casing to get access to the printed circuit board (PCB)

Now  you get access to the  printed circuit board (PCB)

look for a secure place in your environment where people will not get access to, it's  just to keep it safe, to avoid it being stolen, loss or theft, and allow the sun light to heat it, till it's thoroughly dried, or better still if you have a 100 or 200 watts light bulb you can still use that to heat it, or if you lucky to have a phone sterilizer that would be the best and quick option to get it dried fast.

Now after the phone is dried assemble it back and install your battery then power it on.

IF THAT FAIL,
FOLLOW STEP 2

Get a methylated spirit or a little quantity of a motor spirit (fuel) and a soft brush,

As for me, I'd use a soft baby tooth brush to avoid pulling off the ICs and use it to brush the both side of the PCB thoroughly, this will remove any dirt and corrosion from the PCB.
Now follow up with the step one heating method, and assemble your device back, that should bring it back to life.

                                                                     GOOD LUCK!!!
